The Snow Goose...

"In the contest between sentiment and slime, sentiment remains so far out in front, as it always has and always will among ordinary humans, that the calamity-howlers and porn merchants have to increase the decibels of their lamentations, the hideousness of their violence and the mountainous piles of their filth to keep in the race at all."
- Paul Gallico

I guess someone has watched The Holy Mountain more than once...

And you and I...

So, lately I've been watching quite a few movies, due in large part to my recent acquisition of a Netflix account, and have found it quite enjoyable. I have found out that there are many very good movies out there, be they domestic or foreign, that most people don't know about. Pretty much all of the movies I've gotten lately have been really good, many have been put high on my list of favorite films. However, excluding my primary viewing companion (let's call him Sage), most people I know have not seen or even heard of most of these movies, and probably don't care to.
It's not that it is a matter of grave importance that my fellow peers lack the knowledge of If.... or Aguirre, the Wrath of God, as I am well aware that my interest in various activities differs greatly from many who surround me. And I am also not complaining or trying to convert wrongdoers toward my "righteous" path. In fact, it doesn't really bother me much at all that I share these interests with a relatively small number of like-minds. I am actually quite drawn to the esoteric knowledge and personal connection that come with the idea of the "cult movie". I would much rather discuss a film in a manner of critical intensity with one person than in a manner of apathy with a group. This is perhaps why I enjoy dancing around the fringes of the arcane to avoid stubbornly forcing my hand in the direction of the clearly uninterested individual.
This is probably why we enjoy movies in a different sense than others might, because we enjoy the adventure of searching for new movies nearly as much as the movie itself. I find it very exciting to find a movie that I've never heard of that looks interesting. It is even more exciting when my friends have not heard of it either, because then there is no one to disrupt the idea of the unknown. And the idea that a movie can be a completely new experience to those involved, without detractions of spoilers, and with the attractions of unknown directors and actors, can produce an experience that lasts far beyond the 90 minute running time...

Off the coast and I'm heading nowhere...

So yea, I think I am going to try and start posting here more often. I always say I am going to post things, but never get around to it. Probably because I don't feel that it's important enough, but it's not like anything that I post is actually "important". So, in conclusion, I think I will try and start posting more often.

So, this week has gone by pretty fast, especially in comparison to last last two weeks, which went by quite slowly due to "various reasons". However, the "various reasons" were quite interesting themselves, but I do not wish to divulge too much information, for "various reasons". I have also seen quite a few movies lately, most of which have been quite good. However, I haven't been doing much else other than that, so I think I need to start going out more. The only problem is that I haven't really been able to find many places that I would like to go out to, because most of the time I go out I wish I was back at my house. But anyway, I think I'm going to watch more movies in the immediate future and I will try to post more often on here...
